Hundreds support lantern relay from Mayo to Tuam

HUNDREDS of people stood at gates, driveways and along roads on Sunday as a lantern was brought in a relay some 50km from Islandeady in Co Mayo to the site of the former Mother and Baby Home in Tuam.
It proved to be an emotional journey for all who took part and organisers of the Little Light of Love have pledged to try and make it an annual event, such was the support received.
Maria Moylette in Tuam helped co-ordinate the Galway part of the relay which was started by her sister-in-law in Mayo Valerie Jennings.
“It was an unbelievable day. It was so powerful,” Maria told The Tuam Herald.
