Burst water main affects water supply in Headford area

A MAJOR burst water main in the Headford area is impacting water supply in the surrounding communities this morning.

The water main affected is between Carheens and Caltra Cross and customers in the east and south of Headford town are affected. Surrounding areas also affected include Kilconly, Ratesh, Shrule, Liss, Logawannia, Rockwood, Bally Fruit Group Water Scheme (GWS), Cloghanower GWS and Keekill GWS.

Irish Water and Galway County Council  say that repairs have been ongoing since 8am this morning and it is expected that the burst pipe will be fixed by 6pm. Some customers may not receive a full water supply for a further two to three hours while reservoirs refill and water returns to the network.

Irish Water understands the inconvenience when a burst occurs and thanks customers for their patience while we work to repair the burst and restore normal supply to impacted customers. Their customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1850 278 278.
