A decade of Running for Ollie

AN estimated 500 people are expected to take part in what will be the tenth Run for Ollie event in Milltown tomorrow (Saturday, June 15).
Committee members are in the final stages of preparing for the event which they say will be particularly special for all involved and those taking part.
It’s ten years since the first ever Run for Ollie event took place in Milltown, organised by friends and neighbours of Ollie Burke, who has continued to need ongoing care after he suffered severe head injuries in a fall in 2007.
Since 2009, the 10km event has been organised each year by Ollie’s friends to raise funds for his daily medical care, and tomorrow Saturday, June 15, promises to be a competitive and fun event for all.
This year, to mark the tenth anniversary of the first run, everyone who has taken part in the event at any stage over the past ten years is asked to return and do it again.
Over the past decade more than 2,500 people have completed the 10k run and participants are urged to bring friends and family members for the #10yearchallenge.
Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities are welcome to take part in the event. Entry is €25 per person.
