Athenry students rewarded for week-long digital detox

SCHOOL may be out for the summer but one of the most important lesson students in Athenry have learned in recent weeks is the benefit of a digital detox.
Second year students in Coláiste an Eachraidh volunteered to go phone-free for the last week of school in a bid to improve their mental health.
They also agreed that their phones should remain in the school for the full duration of the challenge, which was welcomed by parents as being a crucial element to the initiative.
Deputy Principal Seán Ó Mainnín suggested the idea in a bid to show the teenagers what they were missing by being constantly engrossed in their phones.
