Minister Sean Canney opened Tuam Fire Station.

Faster response times from new fire station

TUAM’S new state of the art fire station is a sign of things to come for the town.
That was the message delivered by Minister Sean Canney at the official opening of the station at a ceremony on Monday.
Local people, fire officers past and present and public representatives were joined by figures from Galway Co Co for the grand opening of the facility, which is 12 years in the making.
The site for the station on the Milltown Road was originally purchased back in 2007, but the economic recession delayed its development, until plans were revisited in 2016.
The new site, close to the Tuam Bypass and the M17 motorway, will allow the fire service better access to Tuam and surrounding localities for the easier execution of its duties.
