Tuam woman honoured with national award

BEING what is thought to be the first person with Cystic Fibrosis to complete a grueling Ironman competition has earned Tuam’s Caroline Heffernan a Most Inspiring Person award.
Caroline was diagnosed with CF aged 13 but has never let the disease hold her back. The 48-year-old was one of seven people nominated for the award hosted by adventure magazine Outsider. She told The Tuam Herald that she was completely shocked when her named was called out as the winner.
