A MINOR injuries unit at Merlin Park Hospital that would reduce pressure on Galway’s Emergency Department could be set up within a year if funding was made available.
That’s the view of Independent Galway West TD Noel Grealish who says that despite the proposal being supported by two successive Taoisigh, no firm commitment has been given. Galway is the only major city in the country not to have a minor injury unit which treats less serious complaints such as sprains, minor burns, suspected broken bones and dislocations.
