BAD bend on the Tuam to Dunmore road.

Drastic steps on Tuam to Dunmore road

A HIGHLY dangerous stretch on the busy N83 between Tuam and Dunmore is to be reduced to single-lane traffic, which could be in place for up to 18 months.
This drastic step is being taken in the light of several major accidents and one death at a spot where engineers say a lorry and a car cannot pass each other in safety.
Motorists using the road can expect delays for the foreseeable future, as Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) looks to make safe a dangerous bend at Twenty Minute Hill in the vicinity of the townland of Carrowmhuineagh.
The location has been the scene of six major accidents in the past five months, while a 21-year-old man tragically lost his life there in October of last year.
