Save our bus stop, says Corrandulla

CORRANDULLA people are up in arms over a change in their local bus route which no longer stops in the village – despite it being a condition of their public service obligation.
The Bus Éireann 456 bus route no longer involves stopping in the village. In fact, it doesn’t even drive through it and now drops passengers off at Corrundulla Cross on the Headford Road, two kilometres away.
Councillor James Charity said there was no consultation with local people of the change to the route and that they found out about it by chance.
Cllr Charity has been leading the campaign but has failed to get anyone in Bus Éireann to engage with him on the issue. However, the National Transport Agency, who recently paid the bus company €4 million to expand their services and paid them €49 million last year to run the public service obligation, has informed him that the stop is part of the contract.
