THERE’S a common misperception that flavour has to be sacrificed on the altar of healthy eating, and that taste is the first casualty in the war against fatty foods and harmful additives.
One family-run company has set out to debunk this myth by developing a range of delicious sauces that contain no salt, no sugar, and no fat.
This is the recipe for success of Feed the Pulse, which is one of nine local food producers whose products have made their way on to SuperValu’s shelves through the Food Academy initiative.
It’s a joint initiative between SuperValu, Bord Bia and the Local Enterprise Office (LEO) network, which has supported more than 600 small producers since it began in 2014.
Feed the Pulse is an innovative food company established by the McArdle family from Claregalway with the aim of scientifically stripping sauces of their harmful ingredients and replacing these with natural herbs and spices.
