Galway's MartEye business gets €100,000 boost
GALWAY company MartEye received a €100,000 award at a ceremony last week.
The agricultural technology company was presented with a Silver Award and €100,000 at the Stelios Foundation North-South Business Cooperation Awards last Wednesday in Castle Leslie Estate in Monaghan.
MartEye was founded in 2020 during Covid in the Portershed in Galway city by Ciaran Feeney, Mark McGann, Aaron Signorelli and Jamie Nolan. It allows people to view and bid on livestock marts and auctions online.
MartEye is used in more than 120 auction centres in Ireland and the UK, including marts in Tuam, Athenry and Ballinasloe. The Stelios Foundation North-South Business Cooperation Awards gave out €500,000 in cash prizes to businesses last week after receiving over 90 applications from businesses across the island.
The Gold Award of €150,000 went to Belfast watchmakers Nomadic Watches, while a second Silver Award of €100,000 was also given to Northern Irish garden centre and café Langtry Lane Ltd and Irish frozen dessert producer Dae Ice Cream. Six Bronze Awards of €25,000 were also awarded.
The awards are backed by the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation, which was set up by Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, a British-Cypriot entrepreneur and founder of the easyJet airline company.
