Family Day aims to get more excited about science

GALWAY’S Science and Technology Festival will celebrate its 29th year anniversary with an exciting programme of events.

The festival with the theme ‘Water – From Molecule to Ocean’ will run from Sunday, November 8 to Friday, November 20, featuring a wide range of science and technology activities.

Chair of the Festival Board Kenny Deery highlighted the importance of the festival in inspiring future generations and connecting young people with the world of science and technology.

One of the festival’s biggest attractions, a Family Day Exhibition, will take place at the University of Galway on Sunday, November 8 from 10am to 5pm.

It will offer families an exciting range of free interactive exhibits, demonstrations, and hands-on activities.

Other highlights of the programme include Women Shaping the Future in STEM and Girls in STEM – inspiring the Next Generation of Visionaries, to be hosted at the Dexcom Stadium on Friday, November 13.

These events will celebrate the achievements of women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, while highlighting the opportunities available to the next generation.

The National Youth Climate Assembly to be hosted at the University of Galway on Thursday, November 12, will bring together young voices to explore climate challenges and the role of young people in shaping a more sustainable future.

With free admission to most of the events and something to inspire every generation, the organisers are encouraging families to come along and get involved in a day of discovery together.
