Fixture update: Galway senior football final moved to Sunday

The Galway Senior Football Championship final between Maigh Cuilinn and Salthill-Knocknacarra has been moved from Saturday evening to Sunday afternoon.

Galway GAA made the decision after Met Éireann issued several weather warnings ahead of the arrival of Storm Boelo on Saturday.

The senior final will be played at Pearse Stadium on Sunday (throw-in: 4pm). The Galway Intermediate Football Championship decider between Caherlistrane and An Spidéal will be the first fixture in the day's double-header at the Salthill venue (2pm).

In a further shake-up to the weekend's schedule, the Galway Primary Junior and Primary Junior 2 football finals will both be played on Bank Holiday Monday at Pearse Stadium.

First up, it's Annaghdown and Tuam Stars in Primary Junior 2 (1pm) followed by the meeting of Headford and Fr. Griffins-Éire Óg in Primary Junior (3pm).

Meanwhile, the U-19 C football final between Milltown and Cárna Caiseal-Na Piarsaigh and the Primary Junior 1 football final between Killererin and St. Gabriel’s have been postponed and will be refixed for a later date.

In hurling, both Galway Minor (U-17) Championship finals fixed for Kenny Park on Saturday have moved to Monday at the same venue. Ardrahan meet Gort in the B decider (12 noon) before Oranmore-Maree and Craughwell’s clash at A level (1.45pm). The Minor B1 final between Pádraig Pearses and Fr. Joe Walsh’s is scheduled to go ahead at Duggan Park this evening (Friday, 7.30pm).
