Swim or splash to support cancer research

PEOPLE in Galway are invited to take part in this year’s Swim In Pink and fundraise for the National Breast Cancer Research Institute (NBCRI).

The annual event organised as part of the Breast Cancer Awareness Month, will take place from 11am to 12pm at Ladies Beach, Salthill on Sunday, October 11.

It will encourage people to dip, swim or splash in support of breast cancer research. People participating from outside Galway can also swim wherever they want.

Swim in Pink has seen more than 5,000 swimmers take part over the years, raising more than €800,000.

All funds raised through the event help support the important research funded by NBCRI. Researchers based at the Lambe Institute at University of Galway are currently leading major national and international projects focused on improving the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.
