Golden Jubilee celebrations at Basilica in Knock Shrine
THOUSANDS of people crowded to Knock Shrine over the weekend as part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Basilica of Our Lady.
The commemorative celebrations honoured Knock Basilica, an iconic landmark that has welcomed generations of pilgrims for 50 years. Throughout the day, Knock Shrine came alive with storytelling and moments of quiet reflection that celebrated not only a remarkable building, but the countless lives that have been touched within its walls.
At the heart of the celebrations was a deep spirit of thanksgiving. Knock parishioners and pilgrims from across Ireland gave thanks for five decades of devotion, community and welcome, remembering the vision and dedication of all who made Knock Basilica a reality and those who have faithfully served Knock Shrine throughout the years.
For many, the anniversary stirred cherished memories. The day became a tapestry of shared experiences, reminding all present that Knock Basilica has long been more than a church, it has become part of the story of countless individuals and families.

Historic photographs rekindled memories of pilgrimages past and conversations between old friends and first-time visitors alike reflected on how Knock Shrine has remained a constant source of comfort and inspiration through changing times.
Reflecting on the celebrations, Fr. Richard Gibbons, PP and Rector of Knock Shrine said, “This anniversary has reminded us that the true legacy of the Basilica is found not only in its remarkable architecture, but in the faith of the people who have gathered here over the past fifty years. The stories shared throughout these celebrations have been filled with gratitude, hope and affection for Knock.
