Athenry business partners with nationwide food and wholesale retailer

GALWAY company Foods of Athenry has partnered with BWG Foods to produce a new brand range of granola products.

The products will be part of the newly launched Market Square Select, a range developed by BWG Foods in collaboration with Irish producers to provide a combination of quality and value for customers. The products will be exclusively available to independent Mace and Londis retailers nationwide.

Foods of Athenry are making two Market Square Select granolas using Irish-grown oats. The bakery was established in 2004 as a small-scale venture. It has grown into a significant local employer, producing high-quality, nutritious baked goods.

“As a family-run business rooted in our local community here in rural East Galway, this partnership provides an exciting opportunity to bring our products to a wider national audience while remaining true to our values of quality, Irish sourcing and sustainability,” said Paul Lawless from Foods of Athenry.

“Working with BWG Foods gives producers like us a valuable platform to expand our reach to new customers across the country and continue investing in the future of Irish food production."

BWG Foods are a nationwide food retail and wholesale company and the launch of Market Square Select connects local suppliers with a national retail platform. The range of products will enable customers to access premium Irish products in their local stores while supporting regional enterprise and supply chains.

“Market Square Select represents the strength of independent retail in Ireland by bringing together our MACE and LONDIS retailers with some of the country’s most innovative food producers,” said Jamie Tevlin, Trading Director at BWG Foods.

“This range is about making high-quality, locally produced products more accessible to customers across Ireland, while also supporting Irish suppliers to grow their businesses at scale."
