Garda patrols needed in Tuam’s Palace Grounds

GARDA Patrols are needed in the Palace Grounds in Tuam to help curtail growing examples of anti-social behaviour.

That was the view expressed by Cllr Donagh Killilea after the new sensory garden was damaged last month. He has also been contacted by residents in Park View Drive, located beside the park, who had water balloons thrown at them.

“I want to highly condemn those responsible for the damage to the sensory garden. I just cannot understand the mindset of people that could lead to them damaging an amenity used by children,” he commented during a meeting of the Tuam MD.

“I think we need to look at more Garda patrols in the park, particularly in the evenings, as those responsible for anti-social behaviour are never there in the mornings.

“When we last completed works on the paths around the Palace Grounds, they were made wide enough for a patrol car to pass through. We need to do something to address this worrying situation.”
