Headford, Athenry and Galway host events for Men's Health Week
HEADFORD will host the 15th anniversary of annual men’s health fair as part of the Galway Men’s Health Week 2026.
The event to be held at St Forsa’s Parish Hall on Wednesday, June 17 from 4pm to 7pm will feature a diverse programme of events offering men of all ages the chance to engage, learn and to take proactive steps towards better health.
This year’s theme ‘One Step At A Time – Progress not Perfection’, highlights the importance of supporting men to make relevant lifestyle changes to support their own health and wellbeing.
Multiple events held from Monday, June 15 to Sunday, June 21, will bring together communities and organisations across Galway City and County.
“Men’s Health Week provides an important opportunity to raise awareness of preventable health problems, support men and boys to live healthier lives and encourage them to seek help or treatment at an early stage,” said Laurence Gaughan, Regional HSE Project Lead for Men’s Health Week.
The week starts with a Health Fair at T Ó Higgins Homevalue on Rahoon Road in Galway on Monday, June 15 from 9am to 1pm that will include free Croí health checks, information stands, and spot prizes.
The Irish Army at Renmore Barracks will be hosting their first Men’s Health Fair on Wednesday, June 17 from 3pm to 7pm, while Men’s Health Evening events will be held in Ballinfoyle, Ballybane and Westside Resource Centres throughout the week.
An online webinar titled ‘Men and Alcohol’ will take place on Tuesday, June 16 at 10am with guest speaker Dr. Brian McNicholl, Consultant in Emergency Medicine at University Hospital Galway.

As part of the International Men's Health Week, Family Carers Ireland will host a free Wellness Event for male carers on Thursday, June 18, at Raheen Woods Hotel, Athenry from 11am to 2pm.
Hosted in collaboration with Galway Rural Development, the wellness event will provide male carers with access to information stands and a taster of activities. For more information, email galwaycs@familycarers.ie.
