Over 8,000 people enjoyed Headfest 2026

THE most successful edition of Headfest drew more than 8,000 people to Headford and the wider Lough Corrib area over six days.

Headfest 2026 was held across the June Bank Holiday weekend. The annual festival’s schedule took in music, sport, culture, family entertainment and community events.

Lough Corrib was celebrated through the themes of land, water and air. There were talks, guided walks, boat trips, biodiversity events, heritage activities and exhibitions held regarding the lake and the communities who live beside it.

Live music drew thousands of people to Headford over the Bank Holiday weekend. DJ Jenny Greene sold out the second night of the music programme on the Saturday night in Monaghan’s Mega Marquee.

Claran claimed the title of Headfest’s Fittest Parish on the Sunday, a popular event that featured nine teams and was attended by more than 1,500 people.

On the sporting side, Kilcoona National School won the Anglers Rest Schools Competition at Moyne Villa’s grounds.

An U-10 ladies football blitz involving Caherlistrane and Headford was held, while in the U-14 ladies football competition, Shrule-Glencorrib won the cup and the shield title was won by St. Furseys.

Shrule-Glencorrib were victorious in the cup final of the Mattie Reddington Cup. Headford won the shield and Annaghdown picked up the plate title.

Other events that were held included the 8K Road Race, the Food and Craft Fair, a tractor and vintage run, and guided kayak tours.

Headfest is organised each year by a voluntary committee and the funds generated are reinvested in community projects and initiatives.
