Newbridge man in fatal collision is named

THE man who died following a traffic collision in Newbridge yesterday (Wednesday) has been named.

Matt Noone was local to the Newbridge area. Aged in his 60s, he sadly passed away following the single-car collision which occurred in the townland of Tyrur in Newbridge yesterday morning at approximately 9.45am.

Mr Noone was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to the mortuary at Portiuncula University Hospital.

The road where the collision took place was closed for a period of time to allow Gardaí carry out a technical examination.

Gardaí have appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the fatal collision to contact them and have asked road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, who were travelling in the Tyrur area between 9.30am and 9.50am to get in touch.
