International learning opportunities for Tuam school
TUAM secondary school High Cross College has been awarded funding that will open up international experiences for students and teachers to learn abroad.
The school will receive almost €80,000 in Erasmus+ funding from Léargas, the national body responsible for managing the Erasmus+ programme in Ireland.
High Cross College is the only school in Tuam to receive the funding this year which the school says is a significant achievement and recognition of their commitment to broadening educational opportunities. “This funding will open the door to a range of exciting international experiences over the coming years. Both students and teachers will have opportunities to travel abroad, spend time learning in partner schools across Europe, develop skills in areas of professional and academic interest, and gain first-hand experience of different cultures and education systems,” remarked Órla Casby, Erasmus+ Coordinator at High Cross College.
“These Erasmus+ exchanges will allow our students to build confidence, independence and global awareness, while staff will have valuable opportunities to collaborate with colleagues across Europe and bring new ideas and approaches back to our school,” added Ms Casby.
She said the school community is excited about the possibilities that the funding creates, and they look forward to strengthening connections with schools across the continent.
