Tuam online fundraising platform acquired

EVENTMASTER have secured the acquisition of iDonate, one of Ireland’s most successful online fundraising platforms set up by a father and son from Tuam.

iDonate was set up by Paddy and Alan Coyne from Tuam in 2011 and Eventmaster have announced that the acquisition will combine the expertise of both companies to create an expanded fundraising, ticketing and membership platform for people and organisations nationwide to avail of.

From its base in the N17 Business Park in Tuam, iDonate has been used by charities, community groups, sporting clubs and event organisers from across the country in the past 15 years for fundraising, ticketing and membership purposes.

Alan Coyne, the CEO of iDonate, will continue working with the business and will lead the fundraising aspect of the operation, working alongside Eventmaster founder and CEO John Cleary.

“For over 15 years, iDonate has focused on empowering charities and fundraisers with simple, powerful technology. Becoming part of the Eventmaster group allows us to accelerate our vision and significantly expand what we can offer charities, fundraisers and event organisers,” said Alan Coyne.

“Eventmaster shares our values, our ambition and our commitment to delivering best-in-class technology.

“This marks a major milestone for iDonate and a very positive step forward for our customers and team, enabling us to innovate faster, scale internationally and continue raising the bar for digital fundraising.”

Eventmaster received growth capital to acquire iDonate from BGF, an investment company that supports businesses in Ireland and the UK.

In December, iDonate announced that more than €180million in donations had been made through the company’s services since it was founded in 2011. iDonate partnered with payment tech company Stripe in 2023 to roll out its ‘tap to donate’ app to allow people to make cashless donations to charity.
