Dunmore’s major revamp project hit by another delay

THE long-awaited multi-million-euro redevelopment of part of Dunmore town’s centre has been hit by yet another delay.

For the second time this year, Galway County Council has had to withdraw its planning proposal and put a halt to the public consultation process.

The proposed regeneration project focuses on addressing the dereliction and traffic congestion problems experienced along Bridge Street in the town for decades. The plan is to demolish the derelict properties on the east side of the street from the former Piper Reilly Pub to the bridge and widen this section of the N83 for through traffic.

The project would also see the creation of a new Urban Park and civic space with outdoor seating, a rain garden, planting and a public art wall. It would also include improvements to the roads and footpaths along Bridge Street, High Street, Church Street, Castle Street and Barrack Street.
