Nolan, Kane scores seal strong second half from St. James’

A DEADLY nine-point second half scoring spree was a solid foundation for a convincing St James’ victory on Sunday.

A Dessie Conneely two-pointer at the death had denied St James’ a victory over Maigh Cuilinn in Round 3 of the group phase and coupled with them coughing up a nine-point lead against Killannin in Round 1, the city club certainly had something to prove to themselves going to Tuam Stadium to face Milltown.

Viewed pre-game as the potential tie of last weekend’s Senior Football Championship preliminary quarter-finals, Jack Nolan (seven) and Jonah Culligan laid on the nine points that took the game away from Milltown from minute 42 to 53. Brian Kane put the gloss on a fine display with a goal in minute 58.
