Star forward reflects on winner against Armagh

MAN of the match Shane Walsh admitted the support and trust of his Galway's teammates acted as the spur for his crucial nine-point haul in Saturday's All-Ireland Senior Football Championship round-robin victory over an already qualified Armagh.

Walsh's return for the day amounted to six from play, a converted two-point free, plus the decisive kick after Paul Conroy drew the foul after the hooter. It handed Galway the victory needed to secure progress to the latter stages and stave off a group stages elimination.

“I'm around long enough to know there's good days and bad days,” Walsh said afterwards. “I still left a few behind me there today. They're great when they go over at the end of the game. In fairness to the lads, they've backed me the last two weeks to take those opportunities. So, just pure delighted when they go over.
