Caherlistrane musician Sean Keane will make an appearance in episode three of the second series of Sloinne, where the history of the Keane name will be discussed.

Musician Sean Keane to feature in TG4 documentary

Musician Sean Keane is set to feature in a TV documentary series that looks at the history of Irish surnames.

Broadcast by TG4, the seven-part series Sloinne follows people in search of the origins of their surname. Episode three sees Connemara woman Yvonne Ní Chatháin head to locations across the country as she looks to learn more about the history of the Ó Catháin/Keane surname.

During her journey she will pay a visit to Sean Keane in his native Caherlistrane, where the folk legend will treat viewers to a song or two.

The series returns to Galway for episode six with Irish actor Pádraig Ó Loingsigh, known for his portrayal of Brendan Behan in the theatre show Moonlight: The Philip Lynott Enigma. He will look to delve into the past of the Lynch surname, one of the 12 Tribes of Galway. The show started last Sunday night and continues weekly on TG$ on Sunday nights at 8.30pm.
