Pres Headford’s Angelina impresses Young Scientist Exhibition judges
EU researchers express interest in student’s bioplastic creation
A LEADING European deep-tech research centre has expressed interest in a Headford secondary student’s bioplastic creation that secured a top award in this year’s BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition.
Angelina O’Neill, 14, is a Second-Year student at Presentation College Headford and her project was one of four from the school to reach this year’s finals.
Her project, where she created bioplastic using fish scales and algae, impressed the judging panel who awarded her second place in the Junior Individual Chemical, Physical and Mathematical category.
Researchers from the Tyndall Institute in Cork, who work with industry and academia to transform research into products across core market areas of electronics, communications, energy, health, agri-food and the environment, have been in touch with Angelina and are due to interview her in the coming weeks…
