Corofin group represent Connacht in Dublin

A GROUP of 30 young Corofin musicians and dancers will travel to Dublin this Saturday to take part in two Comhaltas competitions, representing their branch, county and province. The All Ireland Plearacha takes place on Saturday. This is a prestigious junior competition showcasing the best of Traditional music, song and dance. The group will play traditional Irish music for 35 minutes. During this time dancers will dance reels, slip jigs, hornpipes, as well as sean nós and set dancing. The sean nós dancer is Aine McHugh and the set dancers are all from Corofin, coached by Marie Moran of Abbeyknockmoy Set Dancing. [private] Kieran McDonagh will recite a story and Roisín Broderick and Lisa Kelly will sing traditional Irish songs. Kieran O'Dea will play a solo on the melodeon. The All Ireland Scóraíocht is on Sunday and is open to senior groups but the young musicians and dancers from Corofin, who qualified from Connacht, will participate in this competition also.
