Tuam crowned County V.S. Junior football champions

Archbishop McHale College, Tuam .3-9 New Inn Vocational School .4-3 Archbishop McHale College were crowned VS Junior Football County Champions in a thrilling final at Tuam Stadium on Thursday last. Victory was by 3 points after Tuam led at half-time by 2-5 to 2-1. The goals came from the influential Dylan Wall and captain Keith Herwood from a long-range free. [private]But playing against a huge wind in the second half it did not look like Archbishop McHale College had built up enough of a lead to hold on. New Inn scored another goal on the re-start to cut the deficit to one point. Archbishop McHale College then played with even greater heart and determination, even coping with two more New Inn goals. A late goal and a point from the strong Adam Maughan sealed the Tuam win, which was a splendid achievement. Others to excel were defenders Ronan 0'Grady and Darren Concannon, and Darragh Lardner when introduced, along with captain Keith Herwood and Adam Maughan who both scored 1-2, while Man of the Match Dylan Wall scored 1-3 and worked tirelessly up and down the field.
