Boxing hero helps athenry school celebrate new award

Athenry’s Coláiste an Eachréidh has become the first secondary school in the West to win the prestige Gaelbhratach award for its promotion of the Irish language through daily use, Cúrsaí Ceoil, Drámaí, DVD agus Clár Raidió and other projects both in the school and among the wider community.
The award was presented at a ceremony in the school on Friday by former world lightweight boxing champion Bernard Dunne who said he started learning gaeilge at a late age when his two children started attending a gaelscoil in Dublin.
