Minister Ross advised to de-rail Western Corridor

DEPARTMENTAL briefing documents prepared for the new Minister for Transport appear to scupper hopes of advancing the Western Rail Corridor, the Tuam Herald can reveal.
The ministerial brief states that there is no Exchequer funding available to reopen lines anywhere on the rail network and, if additional resources do become available, they should not be used for this purpose.
“Any additional funds should be prioritised for projects for which there is a clear need, which are affordable, have a sound business case, and add value to infrastructure,” the brief for Transport Minister Shane Ross states.
