Papal nuncio to attend headfords 150th

TRIPLE celebrations will take place in St Mary’s Church, Headford on Friday. The main event will be when the Papal Nuncio, Archbishop Charles J Brown, will be chief celebrant at a Mass there at 7 pm to mark the 150th anniversary of the church.
Prior to that Canon Tom Theherne, a descendent of the landlord Richard St George who gave the land for the Church, will plant a tree. Afterwards, a book titled Roots of Faith — A Journey of Hope will be launched.
The book documents Christianity in the Headford area back to the time of St Patrick. It refers to St Patrick having been in the area at Donaghpatrick, in the neighbouring parish of Caherlistrane-Kilcoona, and that he also went through Shrule. It includes articles and photos right up to the present time.

The book will be launched after 7 o’clock Mass in Headford this Friday evening.
