Dynamo is happy as Larry at home

WHILE some animal rights activists reacted adversely to a new “lamb carousel” seen on the Late Late Show it got a positive reaction from IFA sheep farmer chiefs, regional and national, who say the device is “humane”, “handy” and “less stressful” for holding lambs for various healthcare procedures.
The device was invented by TJ Gormley from Brownsgrove, Tuam to enable one farmer to carry out essential procedures quickly and “with greater comfort for lambs”.
The current manual handing system involves two people, one restraining the lamb in an upright position. This person has to restrain the lamb on its hind end while squashing it tightly between his or her knees with its front limbs held high in the air.
The Animal Rights Action Network (ARAN) stated the lamb on the TV show, was “pinned down” in the carousel, an allegation that is vehenemently denied by TJ and one which has caused much distress to him and his family.
“The invention is designed to put the lamb in a much more relaxed and humane position rather than two people holding it down. The lamb is more comfortable and of course it was not distressed. I have always heard it said that a lamb in distress cries like a child in distress and there was no such distressed sounds from the lambs on the Late Late Show,” says TJ.
He has got a lot of positive reaction for the invention, especially from the farming  community.
