Della is queen of a unique hairdressing dynasty
SOME people say that after her family, the most important person in a woman’s life is her hairdresser.
Even if a woman is dressed in the most wonderful outfit but her hair is not right, the end result can be a disaster.
Not only do we expect our hairdresser to rescue us from a BHD (bad hair day), lift our spirits, make us feel better going out her door than we did coming in, but we expect her to be able to read our minds when we say, “Not too short, not too long, this particular shade of red or blond, a style that makes me look this way or that,” etc. A dedicated hairdresser will get to know us so well that she will know us from the inside out and understand exactly what we mean.
Often she becomes our confidante and counsellor. We confide things in our hairdresser that we wouldn’t tell many people. She may know things about our partner that we wouldn’t tell other people, like whether or not he snores, if he’s good around the house or waits for everything to be done for him …
Della Dolan is all of those things and more. Situated on Tuam’s Dublin Road, you couldn’t miss the salon. Several times during the year, the window is decorated by an artist to suit a festival or occasion like Christmas, Easter, St Patrick’s Day, etc – and this is only one of the many things which make Della unique. Money is not her god.
