United pay the penalty as st pats win ea sports cup

At Eamonn Deacy Park
THAT it went the distance merely added to the sense of disappointment for Galway United, who eventually suffered an EA Sports Cup final defeat at Eamonn Deacy Park on Saturday evening.
Ultimately it ended in a grim story of penalty shoot-out heartbreak as the visitors claimed silverware to add to a collection which includes the SSE Airtricity League title from 2013, and last year’s FAI Cup. Perhaps it is a sign of how far Galway United have travelled in such a short space of time that they are competing valiantly at this elevated level.
All that truly mattered was who garnered the trophy, and Pat’s ventured back to the capital on the M6 with the cup safely positioned at the front of the bus.
