Toghermore House can’t be left to rot or be sold off by HSE
THE future use of Toghermore House, outside Tuam, mustn’t become “a money-making exercise” and the HSE needs to look for expressions of interest for community uses for the building now that its use as a Mental Health campus is coming to an end.
The building is now empty after the small number of remaining service users at the residential care facility were moved to nursing homes and other temporary accommodation as part of HSE measures dealing with the coronavirus pandemic.
Chief Officer for Community Healthcare West Breda Crehan-Roche told a recent meeting of the West Region Health Forum that the former residents will be rehomed locally.
