Dire warning from Italy
A TUAM nurse working in Milan for the past 30 years says the current situation in Italy in treating Covid 19 is "war-like" and is urging people in her home town to isolate to prevent the large-scale deaths her adopted country is experiencing at the hands of the deadly virus.
Jackie Farragher, daughter of the late Maureen and Jackie from Ballygaddy Road, is based in the San Rafaela hospital in Milan which over the weekend became a critical centre for treating Coronavirus patients. A military hospital has been built in the hospital grounds to provide a further 80 intensive care beds to the existing 60 ICU beds within the main hospital.
Speaking to The Tuam Herald, Jackie said she and her colleagues were frightened and exhausted as they deal with the harsh reality of the pandemic.
