Food Fayre fun shows worth of local produce
OVER 200 people attended the charity Christmas Food Fayre and Cookery Demonstration in O’Toole’s SuperValu last week – which also highlighted the importance and success of supporting local producers.
There was plenty of finger-licking going on as customers treated their tastebuds to the food samples on offer from producers in the food hall.
From piping hot deep fried garlic mushrooms from Paul Keating to delicious freshly baked mince pies and fat-free Christmas Pudding from the Cake Box team, no one was leaving feeling hungry.
The popular event not only raised vital funds for Ability West and Tuam Cancer Care but provided an important opportunity for small producers to meet new customers and showcase products in a more personal setting.
It was the first visit to Tuam for Donegal based Simply Irish who sell an array of prepared vegetables, salads, savoury meals and deserts.
“We’ve been taking part in the Food Academy and this has enabled us to be stocked in SuperValu in Tuam and Galway. Tuam has been very successful for us and the staff have been so helpful and supportive,” remarked Joseph Doherty of Simply Irish.
