'Cautious optimism' as new Gilmartin Road plans unveiled
AMBITIOUS plans to overhaul the Gilmartin Road area of Tuam have been revealed, with the provision of 40 new houses along with the refurbishment of a further 21 properties.
The plans have gone on public display at Tuam library until the end of January, following a briefing of members of the town’s Municipal District Council earlier this month.
The €7.8m scheme will include the demolition of 30 derelict houses on Gilmartin Road and one property on Cloontua Road, while the new houses will consist of two and three bed units.
Among those houses to be refurbished are a number of units on St Enda’s Avenue.
