North Galway schools rock the recycled fashion vibe at Junk Kouture
NORTH Galway student designers are making a big impression in this year’s Bank of Ireland Junk Kouture contest, with nine of the 15 entries to reach the regional finals hailing from schools in Glenamaddy, Mountbellew and Tuam.
Mercy Secondary School Tuam leads the way with six teams contesting the event in Castlebar next Wednesday, March 9, while students from Presentation College Tuam, Holy Rosary College Mountbellew and Glenamaddy Community School will also be showcasing their talent on the catwalk.
The girls will compete against 80 other finalists at The Royal Theatre, where they will bring their creations, made entirely from recycled rubbish, to the stage.
They will be judged on design and creativity as well as their ability to bring the pieces to life through a musical soundtrack of their own choice.
