Final fever grips hrc mountbellew

By Billy Coss

THESE are exciting times for camogie at Holy Rosary College, Mountbellew.
Last year, the school went all the way to the All-Ireland Senior B final and with most of that side still on board this year, they will make the step up and challenge themselves against the very best at A level in Connacht, including Seamount College, Kinvara — the reigning All-Ireland champions.
Thoughts of the coming schools season are firmly on hold at the moment, however. Galway bid to go one better than their hurling counterparts and win a second All-Ireland Senior Camogie title in three seasons, and there is involvement on the double at the Mountbellew school.
Niamh Kilkenny, an English and Geography teacher, captains Galway while Catherine Finnerty, a Leaving Cert student, broke into the team during the All-Ireland series only a few short months since being called into the panel by manager Tony Ward. If selected, she will be the first player from the Mountbellew-Moylough club to play in an All-Ireland Senior Camogie final.
