Ladies out of luck

GALWAY’S bid to win a second ever All-Ireland senior ladies football title came up short in front of a record-breaking attendance of 56,114 at Croke Park on Sunday.
Maroon and white supporters made their way to the capital in their droves in the hope that their side could pull off a major upset, and in turn derail Dublin’s bid for a third Brendan Martin Cup victory in as many years.
It wasn’t to be for the Tribeswomen who scrapped for every ball, putting heads, limbs and bodies on the line, in a really difficult afternoon as the elements made handling conditions extremely difficult for both set of players in the lowest scoring final since Kerry’s 0-5 to 0-3 win over Leitrim in 1984.
