Annaghdowns final quarter comeback falls short

BALLINDERREEN moved to the top of Group B in the Finnerty Plant Hire Intermediate Hurling Championship following a four-point victory over Annaghdown at Kenny Park, Athenry on Sunday evening.
They looked likely winners when leading by 1-10 to 0-4 eleven minutes into the second half. Annaghdown though responded and when Cathal Gaffney goaled in the 56th minute, only the minimum separated the teams at 1-10 to 1-9.
At this stage the momentum was with the Corribsiders and despite pushing hard for an equalising score, it was Ballinderreen who finished strongly and hit the game’s final three points to record their third victory to add to their draw against Kilconieron in the previous round.
