Serious assault charge for the circuit court
COURTS
A County Galway man has been sent forward for trial in the circuit court on a serious assault charge.
Juliano Ciwinski of 10 Slí na hAbhainn, Ballinasloe was sent forward for trial in Galway Circuit Criminal on two charges. They include assault causing harm to Jack Codyre and possession of a Stanley blade at St. Michael Square Ballinasloe on September 7, 2025.
Garda Karen Fitzgerald of Moylough Garda Station confirmed at the latest sitting of Ballinasloe District Court that she served a book of evidence on the accused.
Garda Sergeant Christy Browne said the DPP had consented to the matter going forward for trial in the higher court. Judge James Faughnan previously refused to deal with the case in the district court, deeming the alleged offences too serious.
He gave an alibi warning, explaining to the defendant that if he wished to rely on an alibi in his defence, he would have to notify the state 14 days in advance of trial.
Judge Faughnan remanded the accused on bail to appear before the October sittings of Galway Circuit Criminal Court.
