Young man dies in tragic accident near Tuam

A RURAL community on the outskirts of Tuam is trying to come to terms with the death of a young man who lost his life in a tragic accident near his home.

Gardaí and the Emergency Services attended the scene of an incident involving a vehicle on Wednesday evening.

Gardaí have confirmed that the 18-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has since been removed to University Hospital Galway and a post-mortem will take place.

The accident has caused widespread shock and sadness in the local area where the community is rallying to provide support to the young man’s family.
