Stuart straddles many music genres

MAYO singer Stuart Moyles, from Ballina, is one of the few solo artists who can straddle the bigger festival dancing scene plus the social dancing circuit, as well as guesting on major theatre concerts.

He is back recording with his latest single, Take My Hand, which was co-written by Stuart and another talented Mayo singer and songwriter Michael S. Togher.

From watching him perform in a variety of music settings, he comes across as a dynamic and highly entertaining live performer who genuinely loves what he does.

Over the past couple of years, Stuart has built a strong following on the live circuit and no doubt his popularity has been enhanced by Stuart having a career song with his anthem for the tourist hotspot of Mayo titled Westport Town.

Being instantly recognised for this recording, his energetic stage performances and natural connection with audiences have established him as a much-respected name on the Irish Country live music scene.

Stuart celebrated the 10th anniversary of that best-known hit of his, not in Westport town, where he frequently plays anyway, but at a concert last week at the McWilliam Park Hotel, Claremorris.

It featured many of his contemporaries from the music circuit including such well-known names as Mick Flavin, Simon Casey, Effie Neill, Don Stiffe, his own brother Trevor Moyles, and Clodagh Togher who is a daughter of Michael S. Togher, the man who wrote Stuart’s current very lively single. Another Mayo man, Henry McGlade from the Ireland TV show on Sky, was the MC for the night.

The release of Take My Hand should enhance his reputation further as a recording artist of good original Country material and ensure he will be busier than ever for live performances.

As a first cousin of Country star Gerry Guthrie, Stuart Moyles continues to make his mark as a vibrant and entertaining performer across different dancing disciplines on the Irish live music scene.
