Garda appeal following Clonberne crash
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic incident in Clonberne that has left a teenager in a critical condition in hospital.
The male teenager was involved in a single vehicle road traffic collision at Ballyedmond in Clonberne at around 10pm on Saturday, August 22.
Gardaí and emergency services responded to the scene where the teenager, a front seat passenger, was seriously injured and brought to the University Hospital Galway.
A Garda spokesperson said that the boy has since been moved to tBeaumont Hospital, Dublin for treatment of serious injuries and remains in a critical condition.
Three other teenage passengers in the rear seat were brought to the Portiuncula Hospital Ballinasloe.
A technical examination of the scene was carried out by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
A special Mass is being held at St. Cuan’s Church in Ahascragh, this evening (Tuesday) to pray for the recovery of the seriously ill teenager.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward. Road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam footage and were travelling in the area of Ballyedmond between 9.30pm and 10.30pm on Saturday, August 22 are asked to make the footage available to investigating Gardaí.
