Milltown Basketball Club set for Duck Derby fundraiser
MILLTOWN Basketball Club is inviting the entire community to take part in its first-ever Duck Derby, a fun-filled family fundraising event taking place on Sunday, August 16 at the Clare River in Milltown.
Hundreds of bright yellow ducks will take to the water in a race to the finish line, with fantastic cash prizes and spot prizes up for grabs. The event promises to be an exciting afternoon for all ages while raising vital funds to support the continued growth of basketball in the local community.
Funds raised from the Duck Derby will help Milltown Basketball Club continue to provide opportunities for over 140 young players from Milltown and the surrounding areas. The money will go towards the day-to-day running of the club, coaching, equipment, new playing kit and tracksuits, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to enjoy and develop in the sport.
The event will take place from 1pm to 4pm, with the main duck race being held on the Clare River. Families can enjoy the excitement of cheering on their ducks, while also enjoying a fun community atmosphere with spot prizes and surprises throughout the afternoon.
Speaking on behalf of the club, Ger Bowens, Milltown Basketball Club, said: “The Duck Derby is something new and exciting for our club, and we hope it will become an annual event for the community. Every duck purchased directly supports our young players and helps us continue to provide a positive sporting environment for children of all ages. We would like to thank everyone who has already supported the event and encourage the wider community to come along for what promises to be a fantastic family day out.”
Ducks are now available to sponsor, with a range of packages available for individuals, families and businesses.
Duck Packages: 1 Duck – €10; 3 Ducks – €25; 7 Ducks – €50; 15 Ducks – €100. Business sponsorship packages are also available. Prizes: 1st €400, 2nd €250, 3rd €150, plus many more spot prizes.
Milltown Basketball Club would also like to thank all local businesses and volunteers who have supported the event through sponsorship and prize donations.
