Man charged following violent disorder incident in Tuam
A MAN was charged yesterday (Tuesday) as a result of an incident of violent disorder that occurred on Shop Street in Tuam on Friday.
The incident that took place in the town on Friday night at around 9.20pm left three men in their 30s and 40s with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. They were taken to University Hospital Galway for treatment.
A man in his 40s was arrested by Gardaí and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act. He was subsequently charged and appeared before Ballaghaderreen District Court yesterday.
A video of the incident circulated on social media, seen by The Tuam Herald, captures a man swinging an implement at others on Shop Street.
Gardaí in Tuam have issued an appeal to anyone who may have been in the Shop Street area between 9pm and 9.30pm on Friday night, and has camera footage (including dash cam or mobile phone recordings), to make this footage available to Gardaí as investigations are ongoing.
