Late August opening date for first Galway IKEA outlet

FURNITURE retail company IKEA is set to open the doors to it’s first store in Galway city.

IKEA’s eighth Plan and Order Point, and tenth overall store in Ireland, will be open to public from Thursday, August 27 at 10am at the Gateway Retail Park on the Headford Road.

The new store will be IKEA’s largest outside Dublin and the first in the west of Ireland to offer the Plan and Order Point option, employing 13 people.

It will feature a range of 250 home furnishing accessories and a curated selection of 25 bestselling furniture lines available for immediate takeaway. It will also showcase 30 fully displayed home furnishing solutions, including 12 kitchen vignettes, 10 PAX and PLATSA wardrobe setups, three living room vignettes, and two roomsets.

Along with a click and collect service, the store will also serve as a local returns’ location, and will operate on a cashless basis accepting card and digital payments only.

Market Manager at IKEA Ireland, Jayne Owen Gauld, said that the new store has been designed specifically to meet the needs of the west of Ireland.

“Set across two levels, customers can work directly with our design specialists to plan major projects like kitchens and wardrobes, while immediately shopping 250 home accessories and key furniture lines,” said Jayne Owen Gauld.
